The Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act provides no-cost access to education, training, employment assistance, and support services to help job seekers become successful in the job market.
WIOA eligibility can help provide:
- Job search assistance
- Childcare assistance while in training (Link to Childcare Services)
- Transportation assistance
- Interview clothing and uniforms
- Tools needed for your new job
- Funding for basic skills and occupational training

Who Is Eligible for WIOA?
Low-income adults
You may qualify for Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas’s Adult Services if you meet all of the following criteria*:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are a U.S. citizen or noncitizen authorized to work in the United States
- If male, age 18 or over, you are registered with Selective Service
- You are low income
- And if you meet one of the following criteria:
- Receive or are a member of a family that receives (currently or in the past six months) one of the following:

- TANF, or
- SNAP, or
- SSI, or
- Other public assistance; or

- Foster child; or
- Homeless; or
- Receives or is eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch; or
- Deficient in basic skills
*Displaced workers may also qualify if they meet additional criteria.
Youth Eligibility
You may qualify for Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas’ Youth Services if you meet all of the following criteria*:
- You are between the ages of 16 and 24
- You are a U.S. citizen,
- Registered with Selective Service (for males 18 and over)
- You are low income
You meet one or more of these barriers:
- Basic skills deficient
- An English language learner
- Offender
- A homeless individual
- An individual in foster care
- Pregnant or parenting youth
- An individual with a disability or
- Require additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and hold employment
*Out-of-school youth may also qualify with additional criteria
